I bought my first unit last summer. I put it in my finished basement, and it worked very well. I bought 2 more units (and 1 for my mom!) recently. I don't have allergies, but I get a cough when the seasons change. Breathing/cough is better in my home. My boyfriend has allergies, and I have a cat. He breathes much better when these units are on. The only downside is a low level, white-noise hum when the unit is on low (louder on high). It doesn't bother me, and I can sleep through it. I LOVE the permanent filter! Don't have to waste 100s of dollars on filters. I would recommend this unit.

When the package arrived I opened it and discovered a spring rattling inside the unit. It had been the spring that released the filter, but fortunately it had no effect to its performance. The construction of the plastic was off as well and therefore pieces didn't line up correctly which left cracks and holes around the seams. I'm debating on returning it on the fact that it may fall apart at any given time down the road but on the other hand I suffer from allergies and I wouldn't be able to manage another week of coughing and not sleeping.

I have a spare bedroom that houses our pet rats and cats (yes, they co-habitate). Between the pet dander, cat litter dust and animal odor, the room gets a little unbearable at times. Within 24 hours of setting up the HFD-010, my sneezing/stuffiness was significantly reduced as was the pet odor. The second day, the air purifier started making the static "clicking" noise that some others have noticed. This is because the machine creates an electrostatic field around the HEPA filter to trap dust particles. I took the filter out of the machine and took it outside and gave it a gentle shake and when I re-installed it, the clicking was gone. I haven't found the official answer as to what causes this noise, but it appears to be when a piece of dust/debris gets stuck "just-so" in the filter chamber. The minor inconvenience of having to clear the filter when this happens does not outweigh the benefits of the clean air that the machine generates. From what I have read online, this is common to ANY filter that uses any type of electrostatic charge to trap particles.

I'm going to have to disagree with most here. Its unfortunate because I purchased based on the many good reviews.

The filter on this thing is VERY coarse and captures maybe nearby airborne pet hair but any more cleaning of the air and YOU will be disappointed.

I have read a ton of reviews where people say that this sounds like a shop vac. When I bought it, I was nervous, because I didn't want something so loud. Honestly, it's a lot quieter, it just sounds like a normal fan. I brought it to my room and quickly noticed the change in the air. I have pretty bad asthma, so dust really gets to me, so this is pretty amazing. It's also easy to set up, which is a plus for me

You can really tell the difference. I think our rugs are a bit too old and make some of the rooms stuffy but this air purifier makes the rooms smell fresh again. I really like that you don't have to waste money continually buying filters for this machine and also that it's small enough to fit conveniently into little cubby areas you may have in your home. The only negative with this product is that is is a little noisy but we are used to it now. It's not too bad on noise with the low setting, but you definitely know it's running if you are not concentrating strongly on someting else. I recevied this purifier not long ago as a gift from one of my girlfriends.

We've used this in multiple rooms, our newborn son's small bedroom, our larger master bedroom and our kitchen/dining/family room. In all rooms it immediately made a difference. We had sprayed for bugs outside and the chemical smell was coming into our great room, two story ceilings and a large open area. We set the purifier up right next to his swing and it kept that area and the area close to it smelling SUPER clean and fresh. He was born at 35 weeks and was in the NICU for his lung maturity, so clean air was especially important to us. We've had it for over a month now and it can clean the stagnant smell out of his bedroom in minutes (a smoker used to rent our house and with the windows shut and no air conditioner going it can get a bit musty). It's small and compact and hasn't been in the way. We do keep a blanket under it as the instructions state that the area around it can change color due to it pulling all the junk in.

I have owned this filter for a few years now. We moved into a new place a few months ago, and our Ionic Pro sat in the garage for a while. I noticed my son started to cough in bed a lot before finally falling asleep, then cough again when he woke up. So I finally set the filter up in his room, let it run about half an hour, then put him to bed. He hasn't coughed once since, and now the filter lives in his room.

The ONLY problem I have with it is how incredibly bright the blue light is. I had to cover it up so it would not completely illuminate his room.

But I love this (totally silent) purifier and am going to buy one for each room of the house when they go on sale.

The Ionic Pro CA200B works but if you are suffering from airborne allergens, like dust, pet dander, pollen, etc., and you are living in a place that hasn't had its heating/cooling system cleaned in a number of years, you will want to have the cleaning done as part of your arsenal against allergies, as well as consulting the family doctor. I suffer from chronic rhinitis and once all of the above were done, with the Ionic Pro installed in the space for which it was designed, I now have a couple of rooms in the house I consider to be save havens: we still have pets (cats & birds) and live out in the country and I believe the Ionic Pro helps to reduce the sneezing, runny nose, and helps to get a good night's sleep.

After adopting two cats recently I developed breathing problems due to the dander produced by the cats. My breathing was affected enough that I was prescribed an inhaler.

So I bought two of these units about a month ago and voila!, no more breathing problem! One is in the living room, the other the bedroom. I keep them both on when I vacuum to catch anything that gets kicked up by the vacuum's rollers. I vacuum about 3 days a week but when I checked the filters the other day I was pleasantly surprised to see that its catching "stuff". So wearing a cleaning mask, I took the filters outside and using a brush, brushed them clean. I love how easy it is to pop out the filters to clean...so, so easy.

As for the noise, the sounds were more noticeable in the beginning but after a month, either I've gotten used to the white noise it creates or it got a bit quieter with constant use...I imagine its a bit of both. It now sounds like a small fan set on low -- not obtrusive at all.

Admittedly, these compact units are a bit small for the rooms I have but they're doing a great job for me.

A definite thumbs up from me.

Working great thus far. We bought this product to address, at least in part, our granddaughter's allergy and snoring problems. We were suprised that within a week of using this machine, we noticed a huge reduction in her snoring!

I did take the filters out, just to test how easy it would be to clean, and it was a breeze.

I'm waiting and hoping that 6 mos. from now this product will continue to work as well as it does. Presently, I'm thoroughly pleased.

I bought this for my son's bedroom, as a HEPA or similar air purifier was suggested by the allergist. It is rather quiet and moves the air really well. It almost feels as if there's a fan on in the room as it cools it off a tiny bit.

I haven't tried to clean it yet, but I am about to. Set up and cleaning instructions are very clear and laid out well. All in all a very good product for the price!!

This product is exactly as reviewed by most. Compact,easy to use and works well for the money. I haven't checked the filters yet, but it has only been a few weeks. I have 2, and it does work better in the smaller room, but second room is max for this size unit.

Can't beat the product for the price, No replacement filters is the biggest plus! As for the noise, they are a little louder than I had hoped for bedrooms. But it sounds just like a fan on low (when on the low setting). There is no annoying hum or high pitched sound to bother you.

Is this the best product out there? probably not. Best product for the price? DEFINATELY! You get what you pay for.

I bought the Honeywell HHT-011 through Amazon.com. At first all was well and I was very pleased with the air quality produced by the Air Purifier. I'm currently deployed as a U.S. Army Soldier in Iraq and the air outside is normally filled with dust, dirt, and smoke from Iraqis burning stuff. I live in a Containerized Housing Unit (CHU) and bought the Honeywell HHT-011 for my 12' X 8' room room. I tend to have sinus issues when the air quality is poor. The fan was a little loud, but tolerable - I just had to crank up the TV or IPOD. The front grill did not fit snuggly on the unit and reflects on how the unit is cheaply made.

However after about one month of use, the Honeywell HEPA Clean started to get louder and louder. It appears that the fan wheels are off center and have created a rattling noise. Now the Air Purifier is much louder and rumbles, rattles, and rolls. I've cleaned the filters (pre-filter and HEPA Filter) and the noise persists.

This purchase was very disappointing since it's a quality of life issue. But, you get what you pay for. Reading other similar reviews, this sounds like a quality control issue with Honeywell. Be prepared to spend more for a quality unit. Thanks.

The air cleaner has been running contineously since 7 Dec 09 and is still running. The filter is very easy to remove and the pre-filter is very easy to clean. Operation is very simple, 3 settings- off, low, high. I've had mine running on low since high is much louder. With it on low I am able to sleep even with it only a few feet away. It doesn't have any of the features of more expensive filters such as UV or ion, however more expensive models are available if that is important. I'm currently deployed to Kosovo and the air quality is very poor. I got sick a few weeks after arriving, purchased this air filter, and have not been sick since. I don't think this filter cured me, but sleeping in a better atmosphere may have helped me recover quicker and stay healthier. It definately didn't hurt!

I have cleaned the filter several times, and it definitely shows that it is helping to clean the air...That is what I wanted it to do...

We ordered 2 of these. We have 2 of the bigger model and had no problems with them. When we opened these up, the first box we opened had a makeshift weapon taped to the inside of the box. It was made from the blade of a box cutter and the "handle" was made from packing tape. We opened the second box and although there was nothing strange inside this box, the purifier simply didn't work. We noticed that both boxes were "Inspected by #24."

We have 3 small children who, like all children, love to play with cardboard boxes. We are horrified by the thought of us not noticing the weapon taped to the box and having one of our sons find it instead. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it.

We attempted to contact Honeywell but no one answered their 800 number. We sent them email but have yet to hear back from them.

Absolutely horrifying.

I ordered this air purifier for my small windowless office in Manhattan. I had never used an air purifier before. Within minutes of turning it on, my head cleared and I gradually felt more alert. It's a nice compact size, which is perfect for the space. I'm very happy with this product and would highly recommend it.

I reviewed tons of air purifiers before I made this purchase and I also looked at numerous reviews of this particular product. I have to say that I am absolutely pleased with the purchase. It is a bit louder than I would have liked, even on the lowest setting, but it is not unbearable. I don't sleep with it on. I put it on for about an hour or two before I go to bed and that works just fine. I haven't had any night time congestion to interrupt my sleep nor do I wake congested. I am also asthmatic and I realize that since I've been using this air purifier I have not had any wheezing during the night. I have not had any indication as yet for the filter to be cleaned as it is relatively new so I can't vouch for the permanence of the filter as yet. Nonetheless, this is a good investment thus far. It does the job. You just have to figure out how to use it best for you. Of course the price cannot be beat.

We've only had this item for one day but already notice a HUGE difference. Both my husband and I had been waking up with stuffy noses ever since the cold season began and we started using our fireplace for heat. We placed a larger unit in our family room a week ago (also Honeywell) and noticed right away that there was less dust.

But the real test was placing this smaller unit in our bedroom for the first time last night. The 'white noise' was great! And the best part was........no stuffy noses this morning! It was like a miracle!

And no filter to replace!

I put this product in my daughter's room since she seems to cough at night so I thought it might help. It has helped so far. Her coughing at night while sleeping has been greatly diminished. The highest setting is kind of noisy.
